چکیده

African Teak (Milicia excelsa (Welw.) belongs to the Moraceae family. Vegetative propagation has been proposed overcome some of reproductive biology challenges in species. The study was determine influence stem size on sprouting and survival cuttings teak. experiment conducted at Egerton University, Njoro, Kenya. materials were collected from healthy mother trees Coast Western regions A Randomized Complete Block Design used. cutting lengths 3, 6 9 cm. planting medium composed river sand. Data monthly number height sprouts end 150 days. then subjected analysis variance (ANOVA) using GENSTAT 15th Edition. Separation means performed SED. results showed that length had a significant effect sprouts, F=43.45, df=2, p= 0.001 produced, F=48.25, p=0.001. None obtained 50% though highest percentage 48.1% with cm length. reached 41.27% while 3 attained 31.75%. It concluded positively influences cuttings; hence longer should be selected for propagation. Further studies take into account optimum factors which shoot formations including diseases prevention age cuttings. Key words: Milicia excelsa, cuttings, vegetative

Mist, substrate water potential and cutting water potential influence rooting of stem cuttings of loblolly pine.

We investigated the influence of cutting water potential (Psicut) on rooting of juvenile hardwood (dormant) and softwood (succulent) stem cuttings of loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) propagated under varying substrate water potentials (Psisub) and volumes of mist application. Mist treatment and Psisub contributed to the Psicut of unrooted stem cuttings. When Psisub was held constant across mist t...
